BANA: Tana Album Review

Most would put Tana in their underground Top 10, maybe even Top 5 of his class. Getting his start with hits like "14" and "Antisocial", working with artists like Kashdami and Slump6s. Then taking his craft more serious for his Gaultier project, a personal favorite.

He dropped the snippet for "Decatur" and had fans making the very obvious comparison to Young Thug. A lot of people thought it was unintentional, just him paying homage to the Atlanta legend. Then it was later announced his next project would be called "BANA"...an ode to Barter 6.

First listen through and there was a slight feeling that it wouldn't stand the test of time. It was just different, not in a bad or super good way. A lot of it just was a mix of Thug's and Tana's sound. I think what most people were expecting was Tana to just show us how he's growing and maturing in his artistry. He did just that in terms of production and rollout, but something was just missing.

Don't get me wrong, "Designer Things" and "Helluva Night" were very cool. At the end of the day music is fun and subjective, while some people didn't like it he has a solid fanbase that were satisfied with the project. It was a very cool project and I believe he has a certain aesthetic going for himself. A lot of people wouldn't have faith for an artist doing it as young as him, but I believe once he figures it out, it will be fine.

Take a listen if you haven't:
