Women have always played an important part in Hip Hop, with artists like Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj, but now it seems like they are taking over the industry even more.

Bktherula has been making crazy noise in the underground rap scene. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Bk began gaining traction after her Left Right Freestyle followed by her Santana project. She has been going crazy ever since. Switching from melodic vibes to the harder, rage-esque style, she manages to keep her fans well fed.
Aside from the overall cohesiveness when it comes to her aesthetic in music and fashion, the people love her because she just portrays herself in such a chill and down to earth kind of way. She genuinely doesn't give mean girl, stuck up vibes at all and fans notice that.
Bk is able to hold her own in such a lane that many women aren't able to thrive in due to the intense criticism and constant comparison. She makes music that everyone can enjoy honestly. I'm thinking the subject matter is an important piece too. A lot of guys don't want to listen to a female rapper talk about sex all the time, which is kinda understandable. A bit of a double standard, but understandable.
It's unfair to say that the only reason some of these artists are going up only because they are girls. While it does play a part, the truth many small upcoming male artists just want to sound like whoever they look up to in music. Every time there's a new artist with a fresh sound, it's often recycled. In addition, a lot of the artists we loved growing up just aren't making the same music anymore. And majority of the newer, even super small artists have caught the ears of many by just being unique. They happened to be mostly female.

From hard hitting rappers like Molly Santana, to the nostalgic plug RnB / Disco sound pioneered by Lil Hero, there are so many girls to be discovered in the underground and deserve the same respect. They deserve to be taken seriously and not constantly ridiculed, trolled, and underestimated.
Truly being yourself is what will get you somewhere in this industry. We've seen the pattern of artists coming up for the wrong reasons or just completely switching up their sound to appease to what they think people will like.
At the end of the day, music is subjective and unfortunately not all artists end up having a long fruitful career. But it's important to just focus on the now, have fun, and progress.
